INDEPENDENT/SKILLED WORKER CLASS

To qualify for immigration to Canada under this category you must have ONE year of paid full-time
experience in one of the following:

i) Management Occupation
ii) Professional Occupation
iii) Technical or Skilled Trade

FAMILY CLASS

A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident may sponsor a relative abroad if he/she is:

i) spouse, common-law/same sex partner or conjugal partner
ii) dependent children
iii) parents/grandparents
iv) other family members in specific cases

BUSINESS CLASS

I) INVESTORS
Experienced business people with a minimum net worth of $800,000 CAN and an investment of $400,000 CAN in the Federal Program. There are also Provincial Nominee Programs for several provinces in Canada with lower net worth and investment requirements. In these programs you agree to immigrate to that province.

II) ENTREPRENEURS
Experienced business people that will own and manage a business in Canada that will create a job for a least one Canadian.

III) SELF-EMPLOYED
Applicants must have the ability to create their own employment in Canada and contribute to the cultural, artistic or athletic life in Canada or purchasing and managing a farm in Canada. Only persons who have been self-employed in cultural activities or in athletics or have farm management experience are eligible within this class.

Live-in Caregivers PROGRAM

A live-in caregiver is a person who provides child care, senior home support care or care of the disabled without supervision in a private household in Canada in which the person resides.

To be eligible for the Live-In caregiver program the Applicant must:

(i) completed the equivalent of a Canadian secondary school;

(ii) training or experience in a field or occupation related to the employment sought- such as early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric or geriatric nursing or first aid;

(iii) level of fluency in English or French that enables the Applicant to function independently.

(iv) have an employment contract with their future employer

Any Live-In caregiver training course attended by an Applicant must be for a minimum of six months, with classes that are at least 25 to 30 hours per week.

The experience must be at least one year of full-time paid employment, including at least six months of continuous employment with one employer within the three years immediately before the day in which the application is submitted.

The potential employer must first have the offer of employment approved by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

IMMIGRANT INVESTOR PROGRAM

This program is ideal for those who want to immigrate to Canada but who do not wish to be obligated to engage in business upon their arrival.

There are two ways for an Investor to demonstrate business experience:

i) Management and control of a qualifying business of sufficient size

A qualifying business must a least two full-time employees and certain amount in sales, net income and equity depending upon the percentage of ownership in the business. For example, if there is 100% ownership of the business the sales must be $500 CAN, with a net income of $50,000 CAN and an equity of $125,000.

ii) Management of a business, or a portion of a business (without the need to own it) with five full-time employees.

In both cases they management of the business must be two years in the past five years.

The Investors must pay $400,000 to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada as the agent for approved provincial government administered venture capital funds. These funds will be returned thirty days after the expiration of the five years allocation period. The investment is locked in for the five years period once the visa has been issued.
